Homeschool Formal Policy

In order to purchase tickets, you must fully read and agree the Homeschool Formal Policy and bring your ticket to the dance (via on your phone or printed out).

Homeschoolers are some of the best students around. We know this reputation will be upheld at the Formal. It's a very special evening for all who attend. To ensure that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the Formal, we will enforce the following rules. In order to attend the Formal, please read the contract (ask questions if necessary).

All guests of the Holland Homeschool Events (HHE) Formal will be required to digitally agree with this contract, when buying tickets, in order to attend.

Homeschool Formal Terms and Conditions:

  • I am Homeschooled; I am a full time student in High School;
I am 14 - 19 years old; or I am attending as a guest of a homeschooler that meets these criteria and I am in high school, age 14-19.

  • I agree to wear formal clothing that is modest and honors the Lord, Jesus Christ (no matter male or female) as outlined below:

    • Modesty is a respectable manner of adorning one’s body and carrying oneself, born out of a freedom from a worldly definition of beauty and worth, and motivated by a hatred of sin and a desire to draw attention to the only Savior and Lord Jesus Messiah.

    • When it comes to the subject of modest clothing, the first question we should ask ourselves is: What am I trying to accomplish by what I wear?

  • Young men are expected to wear:
    - Dress suit
    - Dress tie
    - Dress shirt
    - Dress shoes
    - Ultimately, dress for the Lord.

  • Young ladies are expected to wear formal dresses:
    - A girls outfit should be appropriate in length
    - No shorter than four (4) inches above the knee
    - Should be age appropriate
    - Modest and in good taste
    - Bare stomachs and bare midriffs are not permitted
    - No see-through apparel or dresses with slits above the mid-thigh
    - No extremely tight or extremely low-cut outfits
    - Ultimately, dress for the Lord.

  • If students have any doubt about the appropriateness of their attire, they should ask ahead of the event rather than be placed in the embarrassing situation of being turned away at the door.

  • I agree that I may be asked to go home and change if my clothing is deemed immodest by HHE. (If you are sent home and don’t return with appropriate clothing, no refunds will be issued).

  • I agree to exhibit Christ-like character with my words, my attitude, and all my dealings with all attending the Formal.

  • I agree to behave in a mature and dignified manner.

  • I agree to not participate in any of the below prohibited acts. If participation of any of these acts is found, disciplinary action will result depending on the severity:

  • The Formal has dancing and can be danced without partners and there will be no slow dancing.

  • The music will be a mix of positive and Christian music.

  • Students are asked to dance appropriately. No inappropriate, disrespectful, or dangerous behavior/dancing.

  • If you choose to leave the Formal early, you can not return. Parents may be notified if you leave prior to the end of the Formal.

  • No refunds will be issued to students or guests who are denied entry or removed from the Formal.

  • The Formal will be a well-chaperoned event, and will result in many positive memories for all that attend. Misbehavior by any individual will not be tolerated. Anyone unable to comply with the above terms and conditions will be denied admission, could be asked to leave and parents contacted.

  • As a student, I agree to abide by the Homeschool Formal Policy and understand the consequences if I do not obey the rules. Students who refuse to comply with requests by chaperones to refrain from inappropriate dancing and/or behavior will be asked to leave the dance.

  • As a Parent of the student,  HHE requests your assistance to ensure that all students who choose to attend the Homeschool Formal adhere to what is outlined in the Homeschool Formal terms and conditions. Both the parent and student must agree to these terms and conditions in order for your student to attend. This means you have to read the Homeschool Formal terms and conditions and discuss it with your student. S/he agrees to follow the Formal rules for the dance. This also means you agree to support any consequences your student may receive for breaking any of the terms and conditions.

By agreeing to the terms and conditions the attending students and parents are digitally agreeing to the Homeschool Formal Policy whether or not they fully read this policy.
